General Purpose with wide tip - These excavator buckets are ideal for clearing and smoothing the ground and considered to be better in comparison to other types due to its minimal spillage. Wide tips can scoop more ground material which will make work quicker and easier. Heavy Duty - Excavator bucket manufacturers recommend this if you want the versatile type of buckets. They are used for a wide range of excavating projects and in excavating tougher materials like stones rocks cement and even asphalt. As the heavy duty is capable of tough excavation it will also be able to work on softer types of ground materials.
There are two definitions for excavator; one is any person engaging in excavation is called an excavator. The second definition of excavator is of course the vehicles called excavators which are sometimes called diggers trackhoes fronthoes and 360-degree excavators or just 360. This is not to be confused with Microsofts vertical technology and news search engine called Excavator or xcavator as one has nothing to do with the other. Here were talking about heavy duty digging machines even though several manufacturers like John Deere offer Compact Midsize and Large Excavators ranging from 0-6 metric tons for the compact excavators 6 to 40 metric tons for the midsize and 40 to 85 for large John Deere excavators. Additionally there exist mini-excavators made by another manufacturer that will fit through a door.
Moving on the to the possible non-NASA commercial application it can be said that the same qualities of the LPE that apply to space would also attract terrestrial users or said differently us earth bound creatures. As both business and government markets rapidly expand so does the need for urban infrastructure. Using NASAs own words on the subject; Urban construction settings restrict the use of explosives to minimize damaging vibrations making mechanical methods attractive. In addition shallow tunnel construction is rapidly changing from cut-and-cover to wholly underground because excavations disrupt city traffic. Coupled with increasing population these factors enhance the market for innovatively flexible systems such as the LPE. If I could have said it better than NASA did I would have. But I couldnt so I didnt. Anyway there you have it both the past of excavators and a look at their future with the development of the Low-energy Planetary Excavator
The Dragline Excavator may come in smaller or bigger types. Smaller types are employed in civil engineering to construct road and port. While the larger types are utilized in strip-mining to move overburden above coal and for tar-sand mining. Draglines usually weigh about 2000 metric tons but there are also bigger draglines weighing 13000 metric tons. The bucket system of a dragline has a large bucket suspended with wire ropes from a large truss-like structure called boom. This bucket is maneuvered by ropes and chains and is supported by a hoist rope (whose power comes from large diesel or electric motors). The dragrope is responsible for holding and drawing the bucket assembly in a horizontal fashion. A skillful operator may apply his skills in contriving the ropes for the dragline to perform various operations.
